Gia did 100 down the 105 freeway to Dock Welder Beach. Travell had his music blasting as he rolled up a few blunts. After the shootout, the both of them needed a smoke break.
Gia caught him sizing her up and down, but she paid him no mind. She kept her eyes on the road. She did wonder what he was thinking about when he looked at her. Probably just sex, but she wanted to show him she was worth more than that.
They found somewhere to park at the beach, and got out the car to meet Leah and Travell’s friend.
“Blood, yal got me out in this sand and I’m fucked up,” Travell said as he slid out his Jordan’s. He decided to walk across the sand in his fresh polo socks.
Gia slid out her chucks as well. She loved the way cold sand felt in between her toes.
Leah handed Gia a bottle of Ciroc and a cover she had in her car. Leah and Travell’s friend walked off together in the dark, to get away from Gia and Travell.
Gia laid the cover down for them and they sat down. After Travell had lit his first blunt, the conversation started.
“A nigga ain’t been to the beach in so long. I forgot what fresh air feels like,” Travell said looking out at the water, smoking.
“You must don’t get out the hood a lot.”
“Yeah, I get out the hood, I just haven’t been to the beach in a while. So, why I haven’t ever saw you around. But always see your cousin riding up Rosecrans?”
Gia laughed a little. She didn’t ride around on that side because of her brothers. However, she wasn’t ready to tell him where her family was from, so she lied. “Because, I have no reason to be in Compton. I’m from Bellflower.”
He smirked. “Well, that’s good. Girls like you don’t need to be in my city anyway.”
Gia squinted her eyes with a confused look. “What you mean girls like me? You trying to say girls that look like me can’t hold they own in Compton?”
He laughed a little. “Nah, I’m not saying that. I’m just saying, a pretty girl like you don’t need to be caught up in Compton.”
Gia immediately changed the subject. She was more interested in knowing things about him. “So, was that your girlfriend back there at the party?”
He hit his blunt long and hard, then he handed it to Gia. “Nah, that’s not my girl. I’m single, but me and ol’ girl pretty close.”
“How close?”
Travell laughed. “You got a lot of questions. But she just looks out for a nigga needs here and there.”
Gia looked at him with a serious face. “So, yal fuckin?”
“Yeah, that’s my bitch until I find the right one. Where yo nigga at? I know you have one.”
Gia decided to tell him about Bird. She didn’t have anything to hide, and she wanted to be open with him. She felt that was a good start by being honest.
She and Travell talked about everything under the sun while they smoked and drunk a half a bottle of Ciroc.
